Following the successful completion of a minor works package at the main school, we were invited to tender for the new classrooms and dining hall extension at Abbey Junior School. The project comprised the construction of a two-storey classroom block, with feature external envelope which consisted of a combination of brickwork, sto render, timber weather boarding and composite windows, with sarna and falzinc roofing which combined to provide the school children with a visually stimulating environment. The project was complicated by the works being carried out in a live school environment, within a conservation area and with restricted access. During the school holidays we will be constructing an infill extension to the existing dining hall to provide increased capacity and an internal link to the kitchens. In addition, as part of the section 106 agreement we are also refurbishing two semi-detached houses adjacent to the main school to provide improved residential facilities for teaching staff.
